The 4MLinux Backup Scripts make use of FSArchiver, GNU ddrescue, Partclone, rsync, and other utilities. The output files (archives and images) can be optionally compressed and sent to a remote sever (using Ethernet, WiFi, PPP or PPPoE). This release is based on the 4MLinux Backup Scripts 47.0.

4MLinux 47.0 Core BETA released.

 

4MLinux 47.0 Core running in QEMU

This is a core system (only about 16 MB in size) for the 4MLinux 47 series. The system includes: the Linux kernel 6.6.47, GNU C Library 2.40, and BusyBox 1.36.1. The 4MLinux 47 series uses GNU Compiler Collection 14.2.1 to compile programs designed for the x86_64 architecture.

Despite its extremely small size, 4MLinux Core supports both BIOS and UEFI boot modes.

The status of the 4MLinux 46.0 series has been changed to STABLE. Edit your documents with LibreOffice 24.8.0.3 and GNOME Office (AbiWord 3.0.5, GIMP 2.10.38, Gnumeric 1.12.57), surf the Internet with Firefox 124.0 and Chrome 128.0.6613.84, send emails via Thunderbird 115.12.2, enjoy your music collection with Audacious 4.4, watch your favorite videos with VLC 3.0.21 and SMPlayer 24.5.0, play games powered by Mesa 24.0.4 and Wine 9.12. You can also setup a very lightweight HTTP/FTP server (based on BusyBox 1.36.1). Perl 5.38.2, Python 2.7.18, Python 3.11.8, and Ruby 3.3.0 are also available.

As always, the new major release has some new features. The 4MLinux Server is now available out of the box (meaning that there is no separate 4MServer for download). Support for Windows Enhanced Metafiles (EMF images) as well as raw files from digital cameras (CRW/CR2, NEF, RAF, DNG images) has been added. Support for old audio formats (originating from Amiga, Commodore and the like) has been greatly improved. New applications: DVDAuthor (set of DVD authoring tools), qv4l2 (Qt-based application for testing V4L devices), VCDImager (set of VCD/SVCD authoring tools). Classic GNU Go game has been added to the 4MLinux GamePack package (downloadable extension). And finally, this is the first release that includes GTK version 4.

TheSSS 46.0 released.

TheSSS 46.0

 

TheSSS (The Smallest Server Suite) is a lightweight server suite distributed as a live CD. It is designed for system administrators who need an extremely tiny and fast set of server software. The supported servers are: FSP, FTP/SFTP, HTTP/HTTPS, NBD, NFS, NTP, rlogin, SSH, Telnet, and TFTP. A proxy server (Polipo) with Tor anonymizer is also included. The main security components are 4MLinux Firewall (based on iptables) and Clam AntiVirus. TheSSS iso images are fully compatible with UNetbootin, which can be used to create an easy-to-use TheSSS Live USB.
The latest version 46.0 is based on the 4MLinux Server 46.0.

Due to major changes introduced in the 4MLinux Server 46.0 it is recommended to perform a fresh install.

Classic CHAMP Kong game has been added to the 4MLinux DOSBox package. Basilisk web browser is now available a downloadable extension. And finally, OpenSSL in 4MLinux has been system-wide upgraded to its version 3.

This is a minor (point) release in the 4MLinux STABLE channel, which comes with the Linux kernel 6.1.69. The 4MLinux Server now includes Apache 2.4.58, MariaDB 10.6.16, and PHP 8.2.15.
You can update your 4MLinux by executing the "zk update" command in your terminal (fully automatic process).
