4MLinux 25.0 BETA released.

Default desktop in 4MLinux 25.0

4MLinux 25.0 BETA is ready for testing. Basically, at this stage of development, 4MLinux BETA has the same features as 4MLinux STABLE, but it provides a huge number of updated packages, including major changes in the core of the system, which now uses the GNU C Library 2.26 and the GNU Compiler Collection 7.2.0.

Road map:
March 2018 -> BETA
July 2018 -> STABLE
November 2018 -> OLD STABLE
March 2019 -> EOL

TheSSS 24.1 released.

Postfix 3.3.0

This is a minor (point) release based on the 4MLinux Server 24.1, meaning that the components of the LAMP server are now: Linux 4.14.25, Apache 2.4.29, MariaDB 10.2.13, and PHP (both 5.6.34 and 7.2.3). Additionally, Postfix has been updated to its version 3.3.0.

You can update your TheSSS by executing the "zk update" command (fully automatic process).

4MLinux 25.0 Core BETA released.

4MLinux 25.0 Core running in VirtualBox

This is a core system (only about 10 MB in size) for the 4MLinux 25 series. The system includes: the Linux kernel 4.14.18, GNU C Library 2.26, and BusyBox 1.27.2. The 4MLinux 25 series uses GNU Compiler Collection 7.2.0 to compile programs designed for the i686 architecture.

Despite its extremely small size, 4MLinux Core supports all possible boot options: BIOS with 32-bit CPU, BIOS with 64-bit CPU, UEFI with 32-bit firmware, and UEFI with 64-bit firmware.

4MLinux 24.0 STABLE released.

 4MLinux 24.0

The status of the 4MLinux 24.0 series has been changed to STABLE. Edit your documents with LibreOffice 6.0.0.1 and GNOME Office (AbiWord 3.0.2, GIMP 2.8.22, Gnumeric 1.12.38), share your files using DropBox 43.4.49, surf the Internet with Firefox 58.0.2 and Chromium 64.0.3282.119, stay in touch with your friends via Thunderbird 52.6.0 and Skype for Web, enjoy your music collection with Audacious 3.9, watch your favorite videos with VLC 3.0.0 and MPlayer SVN-r37946, play games powered by Mesa 17.1.4 and Wine 3.1. You can also setup the 4MLinux LAMP Server (Linux 4.14.18, Apache 2.4.29, MariaDB 10.2.12, PHP 5.6.33 and PHP 7.2.2). Perl 5.26.0 and Python 2.7.13 are also available. 

Huge amount of hardware-related improvements: added support for tablet devices (via kernel and X.Org drivers), added support for digital cameras (via libgphoto2 with gtkam and its GIMP plugin), added support for PPPoE (via kernel drivers and PPPD), improved support for UVC webcams (via v4l-utils and Guvcview), improved support for sound cards (via PulseAudio with pavucontrol), improved support for wireless cards (via kernel drivers and firmware), improved support for mice and joysticks (via kernel drivers and Joystick Calibrator).

And finally the biggest change: there are now two ISO images available for download: 4MLinux-24.0-32bit.iso and 4MServer-24.0-64bit.iso. The latter one is a multi-lib system running a 64-bit LAMP suite (Linux, Apache, MariaDB, and PHP).

The status of the 4MLinux 23 series has been changed to OLD STABLE. All users must update before July 2018 (EOL).


4MLinux 22 reaches its EOL.

The status of the 4MLinux 22 series has been changed to UNSUPPORTED. All users must update ASAP.
